Bjorn is a Swedish former World No.1 tennis player for 109 weeks. Between 1974 and 1981, he became the first man in the Open Era to win 11 Grand Slam singles titles with six at the French Open (four being consecutive) and five consecutively at Wimbledon. But, at the age of 26, he walked away from the sport as he was tired of the attention he was receiving and wanted to live a normal life. He won 66 titles, taking the French Open in 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981 and won Wimbledon in 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1980. His rivalry (on court) with John McEnroe (USA) is considered one of the best in any sport. He was only 15 when he made his debut playing for Sweden and he was just 18 when he captured the French Open. He played in 33 Davis Cup singles and won them all. He won the BBC TV Sports Personality of the Year Overseas Personality Award in 1979.
